Unlike weekly counseling, Hope Restored offers an immersive marriage intensive that allows couples to address deep issues in a focused, supportive environment over just a few days.

The Therapy
Most couples attend Hope Restored as part of a small group intensive. In this setting, Therapists teach, guide, and work with couples together while also providing focused, personal interaction with each couple throughout the experience.
This approach allows couples to:

- Receive direct attention from counselors within the group setting
- Apply insights to their own marriage in real time

Michael (Mike) Harris and wife, Angela, have been married for more than 30 years and have three adult children. Mike is a Pastor as well as Licensed Professional Counselor. He has served in ministry for more than 25 years and is a veteran of the US Air Force. He has a BA in Pastoral Ministry and a Master’s degree in Counseling/Psychology.

Kelsey is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the states of Michigan and Kentucky. She has long been passionate about supporting families toward health and wholeness in Jesus’ name. When Kelsey is not at a marriage intensive, she is supporting her husband in his pastoral role, raising their three children, and learning how to garden.

Ryan received his MA in counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. He has been married to his wife, Joanna, for 23 years and they have four children ranging in age from college to elementary school. One of his favorite pastimes is hanging out at a rustic cabin in the woods that he and his family have been working on for the last few years. His prayer is to help people struggling in their marriage to move toward health and repair their relationship with God and with each other.

April received her Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University and her Master’s Degree from the University of Michigan, She holds a license in the states of Indiana and Michigan, and has been working with families for over 25 years. April owns and operates Care to Change Counseling, a Christian counseling center in Indiana, whose team is part of the Focus of the Family Counselor Network. April and her husband of over 20 years, Randy, and two teenagers live just outside Indianapolis.

Jenny is a licensed professional counselor in Michigan, having earned her Master of Arts degree in Counseling at Western Michigan University. She has a passion for serving individuals and couples experiencing brokenness and various life challenges in her private practice at Winning at Home Family Wellness Center in Zeeland, MI. Jenny is particularly honored to serve hurting couples at Hope Restored, helping them encounter the love and transforming care of Jesus in an immersive, intensive experience. She and her husband, Jeff, have been married since 1999, and have two young adult sons.

Amy earned her Master’s degree in Counseling, from Spring Arbor University and her PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Liberty University. She works as a licensed professional counselor in the state of Michigan and is a Nationally Certified Counselor. She also maintains certifications in treating addictions and providing oversight and supervision to new counselors. She is an assistant professor and practicum and internship coordinator in an online counseling program. She and her husband, Louis, have 4 children. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors, being active and making memories. Amy has a personal testimony of personal and relational struggle that provides insight and understanding for the process of healing and all it entails.

Dr. Dan Henderson is in his fourth decade of clinical psychology practice. He received his BA from Wheaton College (IL) with a major in psychology, and his Masters and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Missouri—St. Louis. He is a fully licensed psychologist in Michigan. Among his clinical interests throughout his career have been couples therapy and recovery from trauma. He is inspired by couples who have the courage to confront marital problems and work to heal and strengthen their relationship with one another and the Lord. Dan and his wife Diane have been married 14 years and share together 6 married children and 15 grandchildren. They enjoy spending evenings on their small lake, and hiking in the woods.

Missy Irvin is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, speaker, and advocate for healthy relationships. She founded the Marriage Center of Indiana, a private practice specializing in couples and individual therapy and trauma. Her desire is to see clients equipped with effective tools for healthy relationships, supportive parenting and healing from past and present hurts and trauma. She is trained in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and CAPS-5 for PTSD, Brainspotting, the Gottman Method and Prepare Enrich. Missy’s husband, Derek, is a marriage pastor and they have been married since 1995. They enjoy teaching workshops with Better Together, a ministry of their church that was created to support healthy relationships. Derek and Missy have three children and one grandchild.

Sara has been practicing in Michigan since 2010. Sara has gained specialized training in couples therapy, healing from trauma, abuse or neglect, and faith integration. She and her husband have been married since 2004 and have two children.

Kathy earned a B.A. in Psychology, Sociology, and Music from Cornerstone University. She earned a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. In addition to her clinical training, Kathy’s career has included positions in the corporate world, higher education, and ministry leadership. Kathy loves the Church, and she is passionate about using her gifts and credentials to serve the Body of Christ. Her practice is Biblically informed, using evidence-based models to address relational, emotional, mental, and spiritual issues with couples and individuals from diverse backgrounds. Kathy has been married to Dave for 37 years, and they have two, young-adult children. In addition to spending time doing anything with her husband and family, Kathy enjoys hiking and bicycling rail-trails, and swimming in Lake Michigan.

Common Questions About Hope Restored
What is a marriage intensive?
A Hope Restored Marriage Intensive is designed to help couples make progress in a shorter amount of time than with weekly counseling. One of the first steps in the Intensive process is an extensive assessment and questionnaire prior to your arrival. This allows the counselor to gather background information and get an idea of the best way to proceed before you arrive for your session. You will receive up to a year’s worth of counseling in 3–5 days, which allows you to make progress in a shorter amount of time than with weekly counseling.
How long does the program last?
Hope Restored offers several Intensive formats. Programs range from 3 to 5 days, depending on the Intensive selected and your specific needs.
Do both spouses attend all sessions?
Yes. Hope Restored Intensives are designed for couples to participate together. Both spouses attend the sessions as part of the Intensive experience.
Is lodging included at the Greenville, Michigan center?
Yes. Lodging and all meals are included and served on location during the Intensive. Accommodations are provided to allow couples to focus fully on the counseling process without daily distractions.
Are scholarships available?
Yes. Scholarships may be available for couples who qualify. We encourage you to call and speak with a Hope Restored representative to learn more about current scholarship options and eligibility.
